Christmas Ornaments Revisited

I picked up a few of these plastic ornaments at the craft store and decided to use a little glitter to make my a few more ornaments for the year. They only took a few minutes to make and they turned out pretty nice. Instead of using one color of glitter for each ornament, I decided to mix a few different colors together to see what would happen.

All you need to make a few of these are:

The ornaments.
Various colors of glitter or just one color that you really like.
A bottom of old fashioned liquid floor wax. (Got it at the dollar store for two bucks)
Some plastic cups.

I used three different colors of glitter for each ornament. You can use just one color if you prefer. I mixed the different colors of glitter in a cup.

Take the ornaments and pour some floor wax inside. Swish it around until the entire inside is coated. Don’t swirl too vigorously or you will end up with lots of bubbles.

Pour the excess wax out of the ornament and turn it upside down on a cup to drain. Let the ornament sit for 4 or 5 minutes.

Take the glitter and pour it all inside the ornament. Gently shake it until the glitter has adhered to the wax inside the ornament. Once you are happy with the look, dump any remaining glitter out and let dry for about 24 hours.

If you mess something up and aren’t happy with the result, just run the ornament under hot water and wash out the glitter before the wax dries. You will lose the glitter, but after the ornament dries you can start over.

It’s a cheap and easy way to make some pretty nice tree decorations and anyone can do it.

Have fun!
